Crown amps for home audio. I own the XLS 2502 its quiet stays cool and is green at the wall. To level match with the ATI 3005 amp using Galaxy digital SPL the Crown front volume knobs need to be set 2 clicks down from Max volume 18 clicks from zero. I know Crown is mostly Pro Audio oriented but it had RCA inputs. This amp is rated at a much higher output than my home audio reciever and these speakers rock out hooked to my receiver. Not only do you get a high power amplifier with front graphical display and such but also a built-in DSP.

What you will probably find is that at lower volumes the Crown will not be as refined as an audiophile amp - but at higher SPL it will seriously outperform an audiophile amp in similar price range of course For example my power amp to the main speakers run in Class A until 23 power or up to around 150 watts which is more typical of an audiophile design performs better at low volumes. I dont know of any crown amp that doesnt perform. However there is too much heat build up in the receiver for comfort.
